About the Dornoch Highland Games

Dornoch Highland Games are held on the first Friday in August at the Meadows Park Field. Local events are held in the morning with entries restricted to the Counties of Sutherland, Caithness and Ross-shire. Open Events which attract competitors from Europe, USA and Australia as well as the UK begin after the Chieftain’s speech to officially open the Games. A prominent feature of Games Day is the Chieftain’s Parade which sets of from Dornoch Square at 12:15 led by the Dornoch Pipe Band.

How to get to the Dornoch Highland Games

From the South
Dornoch is a little over 40 miles north of Inverness.Take the A9 north, cross the Kessock Bridge, then the Cromarty Bridge and finally the Dornoch Bridge. Turn right 3 miles after crossing the Dornoch Bridge and follow the road into Dornoch.

The Meadows Park is in the centre of town and the Highland Games will be well sign-posted on the day.
